MARTHA L. BEYEA
Martha joined Blackburn Law in July 2013 after practicing law in a downtown Halifax-based firm for 10 years. These early years of her career provided a great deal of experience, allowing her to practice in various areas of law, with a focus on the corporate sector including incorporations, restructurings, family trusts, shareholders’ agreements, share and asset purchases and sales and general contract and lease review and drafting.
Since joining the team at Blackburn Law, Martha has brought her corporate knowledge to the intimacy of their small firm. She maintains a general corporate and commercial practice in addition to specializing in real estate law, wills and estate planning. Her greatest professional success comes from making a difference to her clients, whether it be buying their first home, putting a thoughtful estate plan in place, or helping them start a new business. She is comfortable in handling everything from simple wills to multi-million dollar transactions. Martha gives each client individual attention and works with them to create the outcome they want. She loves being known in her community and having clients say that she is their lawyer with a smile.
Martha’s greatest joys are her husband, Steven, and her son Jack, who she centres her volunteer life around. She served on the Board of Directors for Point Pleasant Child Care Centre for many years, was chair of the LeMarchant-St. Thomas Elementary School Home & School Association for two years and has been a classroom parent each year of Jack’s schooling. She now focuses her volunteer efforts on the Martock Ski Racing Club, serving as Vice President, where Jack skis competitively.
Martha is an advocate for living a balanced lifestyle and believes that you need to create harmony between work and family so that you can succeed at both. Blackburn Law allows for the flexibility to achieve this balance, which she finds extremely fulfilling.
